Learning division problems
Today we learnt how to solve division problems. Some students used counters, some drew objects to find their answers and a few worked out their problems quicker as they knew their times tables. At the end of the lesson when everyone reflected on their learning they all agreed that they needed to learn their multiplication facts to get faster at solving problems. So our goal for the next two weeks is to learn our times tables up to 5.

Writing at Home
Students in Room 6 practice writing a story everyday at home. We believe that the more we practice, the more we will learn. Eve wrote such a long recount about her day after school. We were all amazed!

Learning to add up large numbers using place value
Today we learnt to add up large numbers like 345 + 423. We used place value cards to help us solve the problems. We added up the hundreds and then the tens and then the ones together to solve our answers. We found that when we had ten tens, we had to add them to make another hundred.
