BAR GRAPHS - Collecting Data and information


Reihaneh has completed her very first bar graph. It is a new skills for her to gather and organise data in a sensible way before she create a bar graph to display it.

Reading task about the OLDEN DAYS

This is Owyn's Reading task. First he read the story and find difficult words then look for synonyms for those words. Last he wrote a summary of what happens in the beginning, middle and end.

OLDEN DAYS 
Read the story OLDEN DAYS and summarise what happens in the beginning,
middle and end. 


  1. Beginning - What happens? 
On Wednesday by aliens, But they were not aliens they were time travellers
from the future And when Mr Potts was telling the school about it they didn't
believe him. Everyone was laughing until Mr Potts said that the time travellers
wanted to come to their school to learn and take a trip around the school. 


  1. Middle - What happens?                               
Mrs Hayes took the other time travellers to all the little classes and 
there were two of them that went with Morgan, a boy named Xan and a girl
named Zu. Xan had a chip in his finger to take photos and Morgan asked if they
took photos picking their boogers but Zu said only babies do that. In their
classroom they had whiteboards and in Xan and Zu’s school they had flexible
tablets and screens and at playtime they had virtual theme park. But in the
school they had slides and swings.


3.End - What happens? When the bell rang at lunchtime they all came
together and took a photo. And when they were about to leave all the future
kids went on the bus. They took a photo and made it on the old newspaper.

Changes in my life - By Punua

Changes in my life because of Covid 19


Covid-19 is a destructive virus that can kill people once they get infected. This is a deadly virus that has killed thousands of people all over the world.

Life was cool and normal as usual. I went to school everyday and had a good time learning and playing with my friends. It was excellent. All shops and restaurants were open and mum would buy us some takeaways at times. 

But  suddenly on the 24th of march everything came to a stand still when our Prime Minister announced  a level 4 lockdown.  The school closed and we have to live in our bubble. I could not see my friends anymore, we could chat only online. Mcdonalds and KFC were closed and mum could not get any takeaways for us. We had to learn online. Teachers met us through class sites and sometimes it was hard to follow.

I hope that we can stay safe and get rid of covid 19.

Character description

This is a Venn Diagram to differentiate between the characters
in the story.
Rata is a human being and he wants to reach home as soon
as possible so that he doesn’t get stranded when there is war
between Tawhirimatea and Tangaroa. Rata wanted to get back
home quickly so he wanted to make a waka. However Rata
was disrespectful because he did not ask for permission, or
even remembered to thank the God of the forest after cutting
down trees to make his waka. This shows that Rata was a bit
selfish and disrespectful.

On the other hand the forest creatures demonstrated their
values by teaching Rata a lesson. They put all the trees
together that Rata had cut down. The creatures of the forest
were humble and thankful towards Tanemahuta the God of the
forest. They worked in a team and were always calm and
cheerful, They taught Rata not to forget his values even when
he was in a desperate situation.
